Demolition & Asbestos Award winners announced

The Second Annual Demolition & Asbestos Awards were attended by more than 100 people representing around 16 companies working in the Demolition or Asbestos industry

The awards provide the opportunity for companies working in the demolition and/or asbestos industry to showcase and celebrate best practice and innovation.

The event took place in Auckland on 30th November 2018. Congratulations to Nikau Contractors who took out the overall Contractor of the Year Award.

“Nikau Contractors work and award submission for the demolition of Defence House in Wellington was deemed to be of an impeccable standard and a true reflection of the quality of work we strive to achieve as an industry” says the New Zealand Demolition and Asbestos Association.

Across the evening a total of nine awards were presented recognising a range of qualities and standards including Environmental Best Practice, Health and Safety Best Practice and Services to Demolition or Asbestos.

Winner: Ward Demolition for the Von Haast Project at the University of Canterbury

Winner: ATL Group for their work on the HNZ’s Housing portfolio initiative

Runner Up: Henderson Demolition for Project Martin – Structural Floor Collapse Remediation, North Shore

Asbestos or Demolition Best Practice Project under $1M

Winner: McMahon Services for the MOTAT Remediation Project

Runner Up: MultiCivil for the Victoria University Wellington Rankin Brown Project

Asbestos or Demolition Best Practice Project over $1M

Winner: Nikau Contractors for the Defence House Deconstruction Project.
