TR Master Drive leading the way in safety

TR Master Drive Services has launched its 2016 Roll Prevention Heavy Vehicle Stability & Control Driver Training Programme in partnership with Gough Transpecs.truckie

The programme has been specifically developed to help fleet owners better manage risk following the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.

It is extremely timely as the number of fatal crashes involving a truck has dropped by about a third over the last 20 years according to Transport New Zealand, and the truck driver is not at fault in around 65 per cent of the incidents that do occur.

The TR Master Drive Services programme is designed to teach skills to better handle trucks and specifically to address the causes of roll-overs to reduce the risk for drivers and all road users.

“It combines the very best in EBS (electronic brake system) to optimise trailer performance whilst maintaining control and stability under all operating conditions,” claims Gough Transpecs’ OE braking product manager John Hirst. Additionally, the TR Master Drive Services programme can assist the directors of logistics businesses to ensure due diligence within their organisations from a health and safety perspective as well as from an environmental viewpoint.

It can help them develop processes and provide training for truck drivers to both identify and avoid incidents in order to minimise the risk of injury – and hopefully save lives. As with all industries, truck drivers can have a significant impact on a company’s ability to operate safely and efficiently if they do not have consistent and up-to-date training.
