Box cutters and utility knives are staples in tool belts, with each suited for a variety of media, ranging from shrink wrap to corrugated boxes and more.
Both are a convenient size for carrying and for storage, feature varying blade lengths, and are available in fixed- and retractable-blade options.
While use may overlap with these two types of cutters, there are jobs that are better suited for one than the other.
